Background

I supervise 18 college advisers-all recent Davidson graduates-in 19 high schools in rural North Carolina. My duties include training our college advisers to work in conjunction with their high school counselors to advise high school students, mainly those who are low-income, first-generation college, and underrepresented students. The advisers and I assist students in finding their best match and fit for college and help them apply for admission, scholarships and financial aid.

Additionally, I am responsible for managing relationships with counselors and administrators at the high schools, as well as coordinating efforts with the national College Advising Corps office in Chapel Hill, N.C.

My previous experience includes 13 years as director of college access programs with Communities in Schools in Charlotte, and five years as counselor and assistant director of the TRIO Talent Search Program at Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner, Mass.
