Students who are studying abroad or on leave from the college and will not need housing for either the fall or spring semester must make arrangements to obtain housing upon their return to campus.
The Online Application for Leave form must be completed and submitted to the Dean of Students Office. In addition, all students must have their on-leave form signed by a Residence Life Office member, so a copy of the on-leave form will be on file.
Students who are abroad or on leave during spring semester while the lottery process is taking place must select a room during the spring lottery process. In order to participate in room selection, these students must designate a proxy to serve in their place during selection. In order to designate a proxy, email the Residence Life Office with the proxy's name.
Students who are going to be studying abroad or on leave in the fall semester, should not participate in the room selection process in the spring before they go on leave. Instead students who will be on leave in the fall but should be returning to campus in the spring must submit a Spring Housing Application by the application deadline (application link and deadline will be emailed during the spring semester).
All students who apply for spring housing will be placed on a housing preference waitlist in lottery number order. Every effort is made to accommodate the requests of students with vacancies as well as returning students needing housing. Students returning to campus in the spring should anticipate being required to live on campus. It is rare for returning students to be granted off-campus permission.
An information session for students who will be on leave in the fall will be held during the Lottery process. Further information can be gained by reviewing the spring housing information sheet (DOC).
