Want to get involved with SGA? Leave your mark on the student body by running for Senate or by joining a committee.
Elections take place during the start of each spring semester. During this time, the student body will elect a new SGA president, SGA vice president, and class senators. The Senate candidate with the highest number of votes becomes class president, and the candidate with a majority of votes becomes SGA president. If you are a member of an organization that holds a seat in Senate, you can also run within that electorate.
You can also apply for an SGA staff position, including the SGA director of public relations, SGA chancellor, and SGA treasurer. Should there be a vacancy in the SGA staff, the president will notify the student body about the opportunity, and invite students to apply. The president and vice president will review and interview candidates before appointing candidates.
Not interested in becoming a representative or staff member, but still want to have an impact? Join one of the many committees within SGA to have a more specific role on campus. Take part in the discussions regarding academic policy, athletics, auxiliary services, student life, and more. For more information, visit the committees page.
