After having a mixed year personally and professionally at the University of Memphis, I graduated with my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. I then moved to work at Boise State University last September, and I've have been much happier here. My colleagues, Director and VP are all wonderful, supportive and good-humored people. Both they and the town in general feel more casual, and genuinely open to new-comers. At work I see couples and individuals, provide and coordinate outdreach programming, guest lecture, serve as a liaison to Spanish-speaking and other minority students, and co-coordinate the new alcohol and drug program I and a colleague designed last fall.

In my personal life, for the first time since leaving Davidson's Philanthropic Literary Society, I've returned to writing, reading, translating and studying poetry very actively the last two years. In Memphis, open mike and poetry slams abounded, hosted somewhere in the city 4-5 nights a week. The active arts community felt like a homecoming, and inspired the start of a very productive period that continues today. Here in Boise I've founded an open mike poetry group at my favorite coffeehouse that gives me an outlet for my new work; I again think of publishing someday. Other than poetry, I love the beautiful outdoor setting of Boise, where we enjoy snow-covered foothills daily from our 6th story Counseling Center. Most of my frriends take every advantage of the outdoors, and as soon as my foot heals from minor surgery, I'll be joining them again in hiking, orienteering, skiing, playing soccer, and especially kayaking in my new boat.
