Welcome New Generals
We've decided, and you've been waiting for... the brand new Davidson College Generals! Join us in welcoming Matt Jones and Ben Ferguson to The Generals! Someone started a facebook group about Matt saying, "This group is for anyone who plans on stalking Matt Jones and The Generals... until the restraining orders arrive. But hey, we won't let that stop us. Jonesie made The Generals, but we, his loyal fans, already knew the genius that is Matt Jones." Ben has a healthy fan base, too. Listen to this comment from thefacebook.com: "I salute you good sir. love of my life, you are a singing stud," and "Ben, you General. congrats." We salute you too.

We've decided on a date for auditions! Initial auditions will be on Sunday, August 28th (Thanks Mrs. P!) and call backs will be on Tuesday, August 30th. Both will happen at the DCPC Student Lounge. First you'll be blindfolded, and then... no, just kidding- that won't happen... here's what you need to know:
The Generals have auditions every fall, at the beginning of the semester. The process is laid-back, and designed to make you feel comfortable. Prospective generals usually audition in two parts, the first part consists of vocal scales, and possibly pitch excercises. You'll also be asked to prepare a short a-cappella solo piece to perform for the group. Almost anything will do: make sure your memorize the words to one verse and one chorus. It's good to pick something that shows off your voice.
During the second part, callbacks, you'll learn a song with the current Generals. It's designed to test your music learning ability and blending ability. If you're interested in becoming a General, contact our business manager (email@example.com) for more information. He'll give you more information as to the wheres and whens.

Generals Take First Place!
In the "Rockin' the Forest" intercollegiate A-cappella competition, hosted by the Demon Divas at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, the Generals took first place. Competing against eight other a-cappella groups from colleges and universities in the eastern United States, the Generals won the grand prize of $500. Miami University of Ohio's Cheezies took 3rd place, and the University of Georgia's Noteworthy took 2nd. The competition was judged by professional musicians and a-cappella enthusiasts from the Winston-Salem area.
