Out of an abundance of caution, the Conventiculum Latinum has been cancelled.
At Conventiculum Davidsoniense participants will enjoy the facilities and grounds of historic Davidson College in North Carolina to improve their own ability to read and understand Latin using active (i.e. spoken/conversational) methods.
The theme of the week will be "The Art of History Writing" and will serve to focus our projects, discussions and readings. The main goal of the week, however, is to help participants improve their ability to speak Latin with a specific eye towards concrete pedagogical uses in the classrooms. In other words, we will speak Latin as much as possible during this week. But this will be a semi-immersive environment in order to allow for a good deal of time debriefing activities, thinking long-term about pedagogy, and even planning new curricular paths incorporating these methods for the next school year. Tirones libentissime accipientur!
