French Summer Institute

The Davidson College Summer Institute for French Teachers offers a convenient, affordable, and intellectually stimulating summer format for French teachers to increase their mastery of French.

Sponsored by the Davidson French & Francophone Studies and Education departments, and Academic Affairs, participants can strengthen their language skills, as well as their knowledge of French and Francophone literatures and cultures while earning teaching certificate renewal credits.

All participants are enrolled in three mini-seminars, each meeting one and one-half hours daily for one week. Lunches are treated as French Tables, with the institute faculty joining the participants for meals and conversation in French. Evenings will feature French films related to the seminar themes. All participants are expected to commit to speaking French exclusively during the week-long institute.

Twenty participants will be admitted on a "first come, first served" basis, assuming appropriate credentials. The small group size is intended to insure maximum attention and benefit to the participants.
