Current Season

Choral activities at Davidson College provide students a well-rounded education in the great historic works from the choral repertoire of the past, and introduces them to well-crafted contemporary works that are shaping the ever-evolving choral landscape of the future. Within those parameters, throughout four years of participation in the choral program, choirs at Davidson perform challenging repertoire that is artistically meritorious, scholarly, and historically relevant, while at the same time indulging in new and exciting repertoire that bridges the gap between the classical and popular genres through the performance and study of various multicultural and folk-type compositions.

Through participation in ChoraleDavidson Singers, and the Choral Arts Society, Davidson students find an exceptional outlet for artistic refinement and expression, learning the value of the study of music as a bridge to the past and a pathway to the future.

End-of-Year Choir Masterworks Performance: Jubilate Deo by Dan Forrest

Sunday, May 6, 2018 • 3 p.m. • DFPH

Celebrating the conclusion of our 10th Anniversary season, Davidson College Choirs and the Choral Arts Society of Davidson join with professional instrumentalists from the Charlotte Symphony to perform living composer Dan Forrest's newest major work, Jubilate Deo! Forrest's composition brings to life the global aspect of the traditional Psalm 100 text, "O be joyful in the Lord, all ye lands," by drawing from a wide spectrum of musical influences and setting it in different languages including Latin, Hebrew, Arabic, Mandarin, Zulu, and Spanish. The result is a stunning global celebration of joy, as all the earth sings as one, "omnis terra, jubilate!"

Free for Davidson students, but tickets are required.
