Audition Instructions

We invite singers of all levels, from beginning to advanced, to audition for one of our choirs. Auditions will be held the first week of classes in the evenings from 6-9 p.m. in Sloan Music Center room 201 (the choir room). Auditions are 10 minutes in length, and are straightforward.

Audition information and FAQs are available to help students know what to expect and prepare for the audition.

  • All students, even returning choir members, should sign up for an audition time.
  • Sign-up sheets will also be available at the Activities Fair each fall.
  • Auditions consist of:
    • vocalises
    • pitch matching
    • vocal flexibility exercises
    • sight-reading exercises
  • Singers should be prepared to sing an art song, aria, musical theatre piece, hymn, folk song, or well-known melody. Hymnals and accompanist will be provided.

Audition appointments can be made by contacting Prof. Gilliam at or you can sign up online.
