Originally from Pennsylvania, I have a wide variety of performance and teaching experience. I am principal clarinet of the Carolina Philharmonic in Pinehurst, N.C., and a member of the Western Piedmont Symphony in Hickory, N.C. In addition, I have also performed with the Greensboro, Winston Salem, and North Carolina Symphonies. My performance experience includes all types of ensembles from solo clarinet to large orchestra, and from pit orchestras for opera to Broadway shows. I have had the joy of travelling to perform in many interesting places, including Ireland, Italy, Japan, Poland, and the Middle East.
I have a strong interested in the psychology of music and how one learns. I use principles and techniques rooted in current learning theory and research in my teaching and in my own practice and performance to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness of learning.
My clarinet teachers have been Thomas Thompson, Kelly Burke, Edwin Riley, John Kuehn, and Edwin W. Frye. You can find out more about me and hear me play at my website.
