Marlene Arellano

Marlene's background in anthropology and an interest in higher education first led her to join our office as a senior admission fellow in 2016. After graduating, she spent some time working with a college access program in her native Chicago before returning to her alma mater as a full-time admission counselor. She loves talking to prospective students about the value of a liberal arts education and the quirky traditions that the Davidson community enjoys.

In her free time, you can find Marlene planning her next road trip, leading history tours of Charlotte at her favorite local museum, (re)reading books, or spending time with friends.

Favorite Spot on Campus

Spencer-Weinstein Center for Community and Justice: it's a versatile space where you can not only engage in dialogue with peers and guest speakers but where you can also cook meals, meditate, peruse a great collection of books, and much more!

Favorite Thing About Our Students

Students are so willing to venture outside their comfort zones regularly – whether it's through taking a course in a department for the first time, trying a new club/organization, or talking across lines of difference both in and outside of the classroom.
