McNab Admission Program

Registration for next year's McNab Admission Program lottery will begin in February 2019. Check back here for more information!

The McNab Admission Program for children and grandchildren of alumni will take place June 13-14, 2019. The purpose of the McNab Admission Program is to equip families with strategies for the college search and application process. The program is open to children and grandchildren of Davidson alumni who are rising 11th and 12th graders, but is best-suited for students entering their junior year.

One of the main benefits of the program is its one-to-one personal advising. Deans and directors of admission from other colleges and universities and several seasoned college counselors from high schools and community-based organizations around the country will join us for the program.

Schedule and Cost

The McNab program begins at noon on Thursday, June 13, and ends late in the afternoon on Friday, June 14 (see our schedule page). Each student and family member attending the program pays a $100 fee. This subsidized fee helps to defray the cost of meals, materials, and visiting counselors. In addition, families are responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses.

Lottery and Registration

McNab is an exceptionally popular program and each year has a waitlist. Due to high demand, beginning in 2019 we are doubling the size of the program to 120 families. As in previous years, attendees will be selected by a lottery. Based upon previous year numbers of applicants, we anticipate still holding a waitlist each year.

Lottery entries are accepted online between Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2019 at 9 a.m. EST and Wednesday, March 7, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. EST. The time stamp for the registration will not determine acceptance into the program. Program participants will be selected at random by a computer system, which will also generate a random waitlist. If a registered participant declines his/her position, the first person on the waitlist will be offered a place in the program, and so on.

Notification of Program Acceptance

Those accepted into the program will receive a notification email. Confirmation of acceptance is required to hold the student's spot. If a response is not received during this period, the participant forfeits his or her place in the program. Those placed on the waitlist will also receive an email indicating their status and will receive further correspondence if a spot opens, and they are offered a place in the program.

If a student is accepted and has a sibling who has also registered for McNab the same year, the other sibling will also be admitted.
