Thursday, June 7

10 a.m.  Optional Campus Tours 

Advance registration required.

11 a.m. – Registration Opens

Families may register until 12:30 p.m.

12:45 p.m. – Welcome & Introductions

Welcome by Marya Howell '91, Director of Alumni and Family Engagement; Christopher Gruber, Vice President and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid; and Carol Quillen, President

2 p.m. – Student & Family/Mentor Meetings

Students: Team Meeting – Self-Assessment in the College Search Process
Group sessions that focus on the importance of self-examination in the college search process

For Families and Mentors: The Family's Role in Admission
A discussion on the role that families and mentors should play in the college admission process

3 and 3:45 p.m. – Discussions

  • Knowing the Place: A discussion on how to get to know different colleges and universities both on and off campus
  • The Balancing Act: A discussion on balancing achievement, personal well-being, and service to the common good
  • The Places You Can Go: A discussion on moving beyond rankings and brand names to find the right "fit"
  • Advocacy 101: A discussion on how to stay authentic and present yourself in the best light

4:30 p.m. – Student & Family/ Mentor Meetings

  • Students: Tips on Writing College Essays
  • Families/Mentors: Financial Aid and Merit Scholarships

5:30 p.m. – Dean's Reception

6 p.m. Discussion with the Deans & Directors

A panel of admission professionals will discuss issues related to the process (with Q&A). 

Friday, June 8 

8:15 a.m. – Light Morning Refreshments

8:45 a.m. – Mock Admission Committee

In small groups, families complete an admission case study exercise for an inside view of the application and selection process.

11 a.m. – Application Deliberations

All will gather to review case study application decisions.

12:15 p.m. – Lunch

12:30 - 3:30 p.m. – Family Meetings (sign up ahead of time)

Optional meeting with an admission staff member or high school counselor to ask individual questions

1:30 p.m. A Closer Look at Essay Writing (sign up ahead of time)

(rising seniors only - please sign up ahead of time)

2:00 p.m. Transitioning from High School to College (sign up ahead of time)

IEP/ADA/504- It's All Good!

2:30 p.m.  Talking with Coaches (sign up ahead of time)
