I feel the last words of the Davidson College Statement of Purpose (“… and of it much is required”) contain a call to action for all whom Davidson College has given so much. The lessons taught by Davidson do not end with the receipt of a Davidson diploma. Davidson College exists to prepare students for lives of leadership and services. I believe there is a compounding effect to a Davidson education, across one’s lifetime. That compounding effect is set in motion by Davidson’s coaches, community, faculty, staff, students, and trustees. That compounding effect is fueled by Davidson’s foundation of faith, leveraging lessons of the liberal arts, while honing instincts tempered by the lifelong pursuit of truth, beauty, justice and wisdom.
Once a Davidson graduate, always a Davidson student.
Much has been entrusted to each of us who continue to be shaped by Davidson College; and of us, much is required. Davidson’s devotion to its diverse community is continuous and constant; Davidson’s ongoing dedication to us requires we serve the College in myriad ways, for we utilize the gifts Davidson has bestowed upon us in the present and future.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve Davidson College.
