April 29: COVID Update

Message to the Davidson College community from the Core COVID Response Team:

Our cases continue to increase. We are close to wrapping up the semester, so let’s please help each other get to the finish safe and healthy.

Please take precautions and consider wearing a mask in indoor public spaces.

Seniors, please remember that, after a positive COVID test, isolation is 10 days unless you test negative, and that’s not where we want you to be on May 15. We want you on the front lawn with your friends and families.

Masks, distance and handwashing remain your best defense.

Cases

We have 25 active cases among students. Twenty-two of those have tested positive this week. There is no evidence of classroom spread. However, faculty with unmasked classrooms may wish to consider reimposing a mask rule.

Vaccinations

If you’ve become eligible for a booster during the semester, please schedule your booster shot. Students are 99% vaccinated and 99% boosted among those eligible.

Testing

Students can test on demand. You don’t need to call first. You can go to Student Health and Well-Being Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. On weekends, students can test from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Tomlinson Hall conference room. Employees covered through Davidson’s health insurance plans are eligible for eight free at-home tests per month. Please refer to this information on Inside Davidson or reach out to HR at 704-894-2213 if you have questions. Any employee who tests positive for COVID should call HR at 704-894-2020.
