Feb. 25: COVID Update

Message to the Davidson College community from the Core COVID Response Team:

You probably are seeing a lot of stories in the news about shifting COVID guidelines, especially around masks. We want you to know that we are looking at possible adjustments on campus and hope to provide you clear guidance in next Friday’s message.

Cases

We have 13 active COVID cases among students.

Vaccinations

If you’ve become eligible for a booster since arriving on campus, please schedule your booster shot. Students are 99% vaccinated and 99% boosted among those eligible.

Masks

Local and state governments and other colleges and universities are modifying or eliminating their mask mandates. We look at the reasoning and evidence behind those decisions, but we will make decisions that best serve our campus. Please remember that the CDC still recommends indoor masking at colleges and universities. Please continue to mask up in indoor spaces in public buildings.

Testing

Students can test on demand. You don’t need to call first. You can go to Student Health and Well-Being Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. On weekends, students can test from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in the Tomlinson Hall conference room. Employees covered through Davidson’s health insurance plans are eligible for eight free at-home tests per month. Please refer to this information on Inside Davidson or reach out to HR at 704-894-2213 if you have questions.

Thank you for looking out for one another.

Thank you for looking out for one another.

Cases

We have 23 active cases among students.

Vaccinations

If you’ve become eligible for a booster since arriving on campus, please schedule your booster shot. Students are 99% vaccinated and 99% boosted among those eligible.

Masks

Mecklenburg County leaders have determined that the county mask mandate will be lifted soon. Please remember that the CDC still recommends indoor masking at colleges and universities. We consider actions taken by surrounding local governments in our decisions, but Davidson will continue to set its own guidelines. We evaluate our mask policy every time we meet and will update you if we make any changes.
