New Printers are Coming

Students at Printer

Technology & Innovation (T&I) is excited to announce the start of our campus printer replacement project.

Our current Xerox fleet will be replaced with new HP and Canon multifunction printers (MFP’s). We have selected Hendrix Business Systems as our new vendor, and will begin replacing our current campus MFP’s this summer.

Why Now?

With our current lease coming to an end this summer, we have to make a change. We were fortunate enough to find a vendor and solution that is projected to save the college divisions and departments significant money compared to the current agreement, all while maintaining and even improving the user experience.

When Will the Change Occur?

Our first phase of replacements will occur in late July through early August, with a second and final replacement phase planned in the fall for VPAA devices.

What’s New?

Of course, the devices themselves will be brand new! The new devices offer much of the same functionality as our previous fleet with some additional features:

  • Print once, retrieve anywhere: faculty, staff and students will be able to print to a central queue and retrieve their documents from MFPs throughout campus.
  • Print documents on-demand with a tap of your new CatCard
  • Faster, easier scanning to popular services like Dropbox, Google Drive and your email inbox
  • Students will have new black-and-white printers to use, and will have more access to document scanning and color printing (for a fee).

How Will I be Informed About the Project?

We’ll provide weekly updates to our campus community via email, look for more details coming soon. Additional information and resources will also be included in campus newsletters, Inside Davidson, our college website, social media and on our support site.
