Brooke Brazer '16 led her team to victory at Charlotte Startup Weekend, a "business boot camp" for entrepreneurs looking to start their own businesses. Her team included two other Davidson students, Cy Ferguson '16 and Tien Le '17. The team's winning idea is for a food- and nutrition-based website, app and meal delivery service called Pantrea that will provide customized meals and meal plans recommended by professional dieticians. Amanda Silver's '15 team earned third place, and Andrew Hathaway's '18 won "audience favorite."
About 100 people in nine teams participated in the 3-day entrepreneurship challenge, which began Friday and culminated in pitch presentations Sunday night. This was the first time in the weekend's 7-year history that a female-led team took the title.
The winning team receives scholarships to Tech Talent South, a web development training organization, tickets to this year's Southeast Venture Conference, and free legal services from sponsor Spengler Agans Law.
