Preliminary fundraising totals show that Davidson College remains a leader in giving and participation nationwide.
Official numbers will be reported in the next two weeks. Ballpark figures show that the college exceeded $62 million in total fundraising during the 2015 fiscal year (July 1, 2014-June 30-2015). More than $18 million was given through The Fund for Davidson, a record-breaking figure.
"It has been an incredible year for Davidson," said President Carol Quillen. "Thanks to our alumni, parents and friends for their loyalty and support. These generous gifts will enable Davidson to continue to recruit and enroll inspiring leaders who will transform the world. It's another great day to be a Wildcat!"
Gifts to Davidson College from more than 12,000 alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends were designated to scholarships, athletics, experiential learning, the arts, capital projects and general unrestricted support.
"We could not do what we do without the help of our amazing volunteers and the many colleagues across campus who encourage participation in The Fund for Davidson," said Katharine Atkins, director of annual giving. "From those of you who choose to give at the start of the fiscal year to the ones who went 'All in for Davidson' during our one-day challenge last month, you all make it happen for Davidson and our students. Stay tuned for final results in the coming days. Way to go!"
This fiscal year was the first public year of the college's campaign, Game Changers: Inspiring Leaders to Transform the World, and every gift made this year counts toward the campaign goal to exceed $425 million by June of 2019. To date, the campaign has surpassed $255 million.
