Current projections show Hurricane Michael, or what would remain of it, moving through our area on Thursday. Similar to Hurricane Florence a month ago, the storm is not expected to be a hurricane when it reaches North Carolina. However, it will bring heavy rain and powerful winds that could create dangerous conditions.
In the event that the campus were to lose power, please follow this guidance:
If you observe any dangerous or damaging conditions, such as flooding or downed power lines, please contact campus police at 704-609-0344.
You can follow the track of the storm and get updates directly from the National Hurricane Center and from the North Carolina Department of Public Safety on campus. If you are curious about what conditions are like right now on campus, take a look at our newly installed ‘Cats Cam.
In the meantime, we will keep the people on the Gulf Coast in our thoughts as they face a powerful storm and begin a long recovery.
