New Address for VPN Access

The way to access VPN (AnyConnect) has changed effective Tuesday, May 17, 2016. Employees should now use the URL "" instead of "" Using "" will allow ITS to perform maintenance on the VPN server without disrupting the ability to use it. Users may notice that "" still works some of the time. However, it will not be reliable when ITS performs maintenance on the service, and its use should be discontinued. By using "" employees can be assured they can connect at all times.

Independently of the name change to "vpn", ITS will be performing maintenance and upgrades on the general VPN service this summer to improve reliability and security. While most of this will be invisible to users, there will be at least one automatic upgrade in the next few months. If it is a routine, unobtrusive upgrade that doesn't affect users, the upgrade may be performed without announcing it. If the upgrade changes how VPN is used or is disruptive in any way, ITS will announce it ahead of time so that members of the campus community can plan accordingly.
