The Farm at Davidson has launched the college's first Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.

It allows participating members of the college community to pre-purchase a share in the season's crops. This arrangement has a reciprocal benefit: it provides the farm with a dependable, fixed source of up-front income, and gives shareholders a regular supply of naturally grown, local produce.

The CSA runs from twelve consecutive weeks starting in mid-May for faculty and staff of the college. There are currently 26 members, all of whom have the option of renewing in the spring. Plans for expansion could increase the membership to 40 families. The season may also get extended beyond the 10-week period.

The membership fee is $25 per week for 12 weeks, which is a total of $300 for the season. This is paid through payroll deduction in two parts, the first half in April, and the second half in May.
