The Center for Student Health & Well-Being offers limited practicum training experiences for graduate students enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program in counseling, psychology, or a related discipline.
Practicum positions are a semester-long commitment and run either August-December (fall semester) or January-May (spring semester). Students who are interested in two-semester placements should indicate this on their application.
Practicum Activities & Expectations
The practicum training experience is typically 10-15 hours per week, which can be flexible depending on student training needs and program requirements. Based on interest and experience, trainees may participate in the following activities:
- 3-6 hours individual therapy per week
- 1 hour weekly supervision
- Co-leadership of a workshop or support group
- Weekly staff meetings and professional development trainings
