President Quillen To Receive Top Honor From Princeton University

President Quillen talks to class

Princeton University announced today that it will award President Carol Quillen the James Madison Medal, one of its highest honors.

Quillen earned a Ph.D. in European History from Princeton in 1991. She will receive the award and deliver remarks at Princeton on Saturday, Feb. 23, alongside fellow Madison Medal recipient Mellody Hobson, who earned her bachelor's degree from Princeton in 1991.

Princeton's James Madison Medal, named after the fourth president of the United States and the person considered to be Princeton's first graduate student, is presented each year to a distinguished alumna or alumnus of the Graduate School. The medal honors a graduate who has had a distinguished career, advanced the cause of graduate education or achieved an outstanding record of public service.

"I am humbled by this honor," Quillen said, "and deeply grateful to Princeton both for its many gifts to me and for recognizing the important work all of us at Davidson are doing to cultivate leaders who graduate ready to serve a world that urgently needs them.
