Please join exhibiting artists for an opening reception on Thursday, September 24 from 6:30–8:30pm in the atrium and galleries of the Belk Visual Arts Center. The reception is sponsored by the Davidson College Friends of the Arts. There is no charge to attend the reception or exhibits, which will be on display in the Van Every Gallery and Smith Galleries of the Belk Visual Arts Center from October 24 through December 13.
Parodic Machines is a group exhibition in the Van Every Gallery. The exhibition, curated by Paula Gaetano Adi, is comprised of work by five artists working in the field of robotics: Nick Bontrager, David Bowen, Matt Kenyon, Hye Yeon Nam, and Fernando Orellana. Artists will present a brief gallery talk at 7:15pm during the October 24 opening reception.
In the Smith Gallery, Desiring Machine is the work of Paula Gaetano Adi. During the October 24 reception, Adi will host a performance of the piece from 7:45-8:30pm.
On Wednesday, October 23, the gallery will also host a panel discussion moderated by curator Paula Gaetano Adi and featuring all of the artists in the Parodic Machines exhibition. The program begins at 6pm in the Semans Auditorium in the Belk Visual Arts Center.
