Come learn about a growing partner for Davidson located in Charlotte!
The Council for Children's Rights (CFCR) is a comprehensive advocacy program for children. Our team of highly-skilled advocates, attorneys , and social workers provide legal representation, advocacy, systems reform, policy, research, and planning for all children. Over the coming months CFCR plans to expand their connections to Davidson in many ways, beginning with recruiting some students to serve as interns this summer.
They are recruiting students to fill internship roles in the Advancement Team and the Policy Team:
The Advancement Team is responsible for communication, marketing, donor relations and fundraising for CFCR. Interns will have the opportunity to administer telephone calls to current and past donors; research state, local and federal grant opportunities; write and edit grants, newsletters, reports, and marketing/communication materials; assist with special events; coordinate and attend meetings with community planners and funders; and participate in Advancement Team committee meetings.
The Policy Team works on a local and state level to advocate for policy, system, and legislative changes that improve the collective outcomes for children in Mecklenburg County. The team utilizes message development, media campaigns, community organizing, legislative advocacy, and building alliances to address pertinent issues related to a child’s right to be safe, healthy, and educated. Interns will have the opportunity to research legislation and evidence-based practices utilized in other communities to help influence systemic change. Interns will attend community meetings and presentations and assist with advancing the CFCR policy agenda.
