On Thursday, May 28, Davidson College will conduct a full-scale campus emergency exercise in conjunction with Davidson Police, Davidson Fire Department, Cornelius Fire Department, Mount Mourne Fire Department and Mooresville Fire Department.
The event will occur on the main campus area, and the college asks that the general public avoid the area as much as possible from 9 a.m. until noon. The event will include the presence of emergency vehicles, equipment and personnel.
The exercise is part of regular emergency preparedness activities the college performs every year.

At Davidson Housing Coalition’s annual Souper Bowl fundraising event, you can enjoy delicious soups for the soup cook-off from local Davidson restaurants along with live entertainment from the Delilahs, the Generals and many more!
The cost to attend the event is $10 for adults, $8 for students (12 & up) and $5 for children. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
All proceeds raised from the Souper Bowl benefit Hands Around Mecklenburg/Mooresville Making Emergency Repairs Safely (HAMMERS). HAMMERS provides lower wealth families with emergency home repairs, giving them comfort, safety and peace of mind. Since the program’s inception in 2004, Davidson Housing Coalition has made critical repairs to over 125 houses, improving safety and livability for many people. The HAMMERS program works in North Mecklenburg and Mooresville, with a priority to assist people with special needs, such as the elderly, disabled, single-parent households or households with five or more inhabitants including children. Home repair projects address accessibility, electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing and roofs.
