Travel Arrangements

It is important to make your travel arrangements early.

If you need to come before or stay after the available shuttle dates, or come into a different airport or bus/train terminal, you are responsible for your own transportation as well as your own overnight arrangements.

In some circumstances, we may be able to make special accommodations for arrival the day before, please contact us to discuss options prior to making your travel plans.

We pick up and drop off at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, the Greyhound Bus Station at 601 W. Trade Street in Charlotte, the Kannapolis Train Station and the Charlotte Train Station on the days listed below only.

Important Travel Notices for Session III

If you are attending Session III Long

Please make arrangements for overnight accommodations on August 15, 2018. Your residence hall room will not be available for you until the first day of Orientation August 16, 2018.

If you are attending Session III Short

If you are attending Session III Short and you are participating in other pre-orientation experiences, such as STRIDE or International programs, then you will likely be able to move into your fall dorm room on August 12 when we return from Outdoor Odyssey. Please check with the coordinators of your other pre-orientation events to confirm.

If you are attending Session III Short

If you are attending Session III Short and you are not participating in another pre-orientation event, you will need to find other accommodations for August 12-16, 2018 leading up to Orientation.

Local Accommodations

The Town of Davidson and surrounding communities offer several accommodation options. Please note many hotels have a minimum age requirement to stay overnight alone.

Carnegie Guest House on campus holds limited spaces for Odyssey participants—we recommend you book early. Please mention in your original contact that you are an Odyssey participant. Rooms at the Carnegie Guest House are not available to family members or guests of Odyssey participants.

Erwin Lodge, a rustic space on-campus, may be available to Odyssey participants for free on some nights. Accommodations here include an open co-ed floor space for sleeping bags and pads, a communal bathroom and a communal kitchen. Showers are available in the fitness center at another location on campus. These spaces will fill early, please make plans with us as soon as possible.
