Dean Rusk Lecture: Reporting from a Lost Country
Elena Kostyuchenko is an independent Russian journalist. For 17 years, she was a special correspondent for Novaya Gazeta until the newspaper was shut down under pressure from Russian authorities in March 2022. She has reported on conflict, crime, human rights, and social issues. Kostyuchenko was one of the first to provide evidence of Russian troops in eastern Ukraine and covered the Russian invasion from the second day of the war. She now collaborates with the independent exiled Russian media outlet Meduza. Her book, I Love Russia: Reporting from a Lost Country, was released in October 2023. Her work has been recognized with multiple awards, including the European Press Prize, the Gerd Bucerius Award for Free Press of Eastern Europe, and the Paul Klebnikov Prize.
This event is free and open to the public! Following the lecture, Kostyuchenko will hold a book signing.
