David Kraus Receives Award for Ethics in College Admission

The Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling (PCACAC) has selected David Kraus, senior associate dean and director of admission, for the John A. "Jack" Blackburn Award for Ethics in College Admission. The PCACAC established this prestigious award in 2010 to honor the late Jack Blackburn, revered dean of admission at the University of Virginia.

"Jack was an icon in the admission world, and to receive an award named in his honor, I couldn't be more humbled and privileged. He was truly somebody everyone looked up to and admired," said Kraus.

Throughout his career, Blackburn served as a role model, promoting the highest ethical standards, integrity and equity in access to higher education. The award is presented annually to an individual within the profession of college admission who exemplifies these qualities.

Kraus has been part of the College's admission and financial aid staff since 2008.

"I am so thrilled that Dave has been recognized with the Blackburn Award, as Jack was, and remains, one of the most liked, respected and talented admission professionals our industry ever had," said Chris Gruber, vice president and dean of admission and financial aid. "Dave is the perfect selection for this award, and our entire admission and financial team is delighted and proud of him."

The award is given each year at the annual conference of the PCACAC. Kraus will receive the award on April 17.
