Donate, Shop, or Both - Wildcat Wellness hosts Free Marketplace Dec. 14

The Wellness Committee is pleased to offer a Free Marketplace experience just in time for the holidays on Wednesday, Dec. 14 from noon-5 p.m.

A Free Marketplace is a great opportunity to build community, share resources, and practice recycling and sustainability while supporting one another.

Items will be available for free "shopping" in Room 209 of the Alvarez College Union. All you need is a bag or box to carry your items away and plenty of trunk space in your car. You do not need to bring items in order to participate.

  • Drop-off items: Tuesday, Dec. 13 from noon-5 p.m.
  • Go Shopping: Wednesday, Dec. 14 from noon-5 p.m.

How does it work?

Items are donated to Free Marketplace by members of the college community, and on Dece. 14, anyone can come to Room 209 for free shopping.

  • You do need to bring your own bags
  • You do not need to donate to marketplace in order to participate

What should you donate?

We are currently soliciting the following items in good-to-excellent used condition:

  • Children's clothing
  • Housewares
  • Home décor items
  • Current electronics (bundled with all cords/accessories) - nothing older than three years please
  • Toys
  • Games
  • Popular books
  • Children's books

If you have a question about what to donate, please email Sandy Helfgott.

If you would like to take back items that aren't taken from the marketplace, they must be picked up by 4:45 p.m. Dec. 14 or they will be donated to charity. Please note that any items brought in as part of this event will be considered part of the "gift economy" concept and cannot be considered donations for tax purposes.

Volunteer to help

If you would like to help with set-up, staffing the marketplace, tear-down, or taking leftover items to donate, please email Brenda Daugherty.
