Dean Rusk: Screening of "Intercepted" with Director Q&A

“Intercepted," written and directed by Oksana Karpovych, debuted in Berlin in 2024. It won the Grand Prize for National Feature at the 2024 Montreal International Documentary Festival and was shortlisted for the 2026 Prix Luc-Perreault.The Dean Rusk International Studies Program will host a screening of the documentary “Intercepted.” Following the film, at 8 p.m., Karpovych will join the audience remotely for a Q&A moderated by Dean Rusk Director Jane Mangan. 

Karpovych is a native of Kyiv. She received a degree in Cultural Studies from the National University of Kyiv - Mohyla Academy prior to moving to Montreal where she earned a degree in film production from Concordia University. Karpovych was working in Ukraine as a producer for Al Jazeera when the full-scale Russian invasion occurred in February 2022. Along with her film crew, Karpovych traveled across Ukraine and gathered images. These images alongside intercepted communications by Russian soldiers, primarily to family and friends, are the subject of the documentary.
