Disobedient Women in Colonial Prisons: Bombay, 1930-32
Avrati Bhatnagar is an Instructor of History and International Comparative Studies at Duke University. She has published in History of Photography and co-edited Photographing Civil Disobedience: Bombay, 1930–31 (Alkazi Collection of Photography in association with Mapin Publishing, 2025). In this talk she will be highlighting the women who went to prison during the civil disobedience movement through the photographs that let us enter those moments with them.
