displacement: Jia Yi Lee & Conner Singh VanderBeek

"displacement" is a concert of works by Jia Yi Lee and Conner Singh VanderBeek that explores the manifold meanings of being displaced, whether through the continual movement of the body from place to place or through more abstract processes like refraction, attraction and repulsion, and fragmentation. Works for solo instrumentalists, tape, and video confront the physical and psychological ramifications of having to continually be moved and removed – and the inevitable distortions and transformations wrought by such displacements.
