Opening Reception for Bob Trotman: Business as Usual, an exhibition featuring more than 20 sculptures, 25 maquettes, and nine drawings by NC-based artist Trotman. Working mostly in wood, but also using motion, light, and sound, Trotman creates satirical office-like installations that suggest the confluence of power, privilege, and pretense that shape our world. His work has been widely exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in museums throughout the southeast.
A partnership with the University of North Carolina-Charlotte will allow for a simultaneous presentation of works by Trotman at UNCC's uptown Projective Eye Gallery.
Trotman will provide brief remarks about this work at the reception at 7:30 p.m.
A mid-career monograph about the artist, jointly produced by the Halsey Institute of Art and the Van Every/Smith Galleries will be available.
