Staley Lecture
We welcome Rev. Dr. Erin Raffety as this year’s Staley Lecture speaker. Dr. Raffety is a Davidson College alumna, a Practical Theologian, and Cultural Anthropologist who has studied Christian congregations in the United States and people with disabilities around the world. We hope this lecture will be centered around disability theology.
The Staley Lecture Series was established at Davidson in 1970 by Thomas F. Staley ’24. Mr. Staley wanted to give students and others in the college community an opportunity to hear distinguished Christian speakers reflect on their personal faith and some aspect of their work or area of expertise in ways that are intellectually engaging and spiritually nurturing. Recent Staley lecturers include Bishop Michael Curry (of Royal Wedding renown), social justice activist Shane Claiborne, best-selling pastor-authors Barbara Brown Taylor and Nadia Bolz-Weber, and most recently the Rev. Dr. Thema Bryant.
