Traditional Series: Jake Blount
Jake Blount is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, singer, and scholar based in Takoma Park, Maryland. Blount took up banjo and fiddle as a student at Hamilton College and became a full-time performer and scholar in 2017. His art and scholarship both focus primarily on the music of Black and indigenous communities in the southeastern United States. Blount’s music and research has been shared with the Smithsonian Institution, The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and numerous other colleges, museums, and universities.
