"I’m the youngest child in my family, so I went on a LOT of college tours (starting as early as 6th grade!!) and, compared to my older siblings, I was always more interested in attending a smaller school. The holistic approach of a private liberal arts college was very appealing as well as the opportunities for undergraduates, especially in research. Coming from California, Davidson had great academics, small classes, and a climate where the winters are quite manageable! However, my main reason I chose Davidson is the community. I attended many college visits and admitted students programs, so I was accustomed to hearing tour guides share about the 'tight knit community,' however, Davidson was the only college I witnessed (and can now attest to) this to be true. On my Davidson admitted students day, I sat in a higher level physics class (where I had absolutely no idea what was going on) and observed an incredibly engaged class. The most notable moment for me was when the professor asked a student how their exam in another class earlier that day went. I was deeply impressed and shocked to see the close connections between students and professors which only continues to manifest in my Davidson experience."
Underrated Detail About Davidson
I initially didn't understand eating houses or Greek life at Davidson. Eating houses are extremely unique and create a very fun and social culture on campus. These houses are an amazing way to connect with students that you might otherwise not have met while being very low commitment and low-pressure.
Favorite Bite to Eat
On campus, I LOVE Davis Café (specifically the Smoky Stack burger)!
