Background

As an educator I focus on deepening students' understanding and appreciation for all areas of visual theatrical design with specific training in scene design, scene painting, stage properties, model making, and portfolio/resume development.

I have worked professionally as a scene designer for more than 10 years, at such venues as The Children's Theatre of Charlotte, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, Greenbrier Valley Theatre, and The Virginia Stage Company (Resident Scene Designer). I also have worked regionally as both a properties master and scenic charge painter in addition to assisting Tony Award winning designer David Gallo on a number of productions in his New York studio.

In 2013, my design work was featured as a finalist at the World Stage Design Exhibition in Cardiff, Wales. I also received a United States Institute for Theatre Technology Fellowship to support research in India regarding modern scene design practices there.

I am a member of the professional design union United Scenic Artists Local 829 as well as an active member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology, where I was recently appointed as an Associate Editor for the journal TD&T.
