A Typical Day at the Library

My typical day includes anything related to purchases for the Main Library, the Music Library, or our Special Collections. I regularly communicate with faculty about materials requests, both for professional research and for classes. I search vendors, purchase materials, enter titles into our library system, and evaluate and update the local bibliographic records for those titles. Once physical materials come in, I receive and invoice them. I work closely with Interlibrary Loan, Course Reserves and our digitization team to ensure that faculty and students are getting what they need to support their teaching and learning goals. I also assist with various special projects that are occurring within the Library and the Collections Strategies team. A great day is when I have the chance to expand my understanding of an issue or project through new insights and ideas, or when I brighten someone else's day.
