Background

I am a Developmental Psychologist, who studies death-related experiences across the lifespan. My curiosity with end of life initially emerged after volunteering at a hospice center, when I was an undergraduate. The amount of care and support given to the patients was both humbling and inspiring. This pivotal experience sparked the scientist in me: What does it mean to have a quality death?

I then pursued a Ph.D. in Lifespan Developmental Psychology from North Carolina State University, so that I could further investigate my questions. As a graduate student, I conducted research on people’s attitudes about death, general understanding of what death means, grieving patterns in spousal loss, and theoretical models of end of life.

Before I joined Davidson College, I was a Lecturer at my undergraduate alma mater, University of the Pacific. Now, I am back on the East Coast and excited to explore end-of-life issues and foster lifelong learners in the Davidson community.
