Background

As a performer, I have sung with Appalachian State University Opera Workshop Theatre, UNCG Opera Theatre, Greensboro Light Opera and Song, Queens University of Charlotte, Matthews Playhouse, the Levine Jewish Community Center, Central Piedmont Community College and Opera Carolina. In February 2020, I sang with Andrea Bocelli as an Opera Carolina Featured Artist performing the Quartet from Act III of La Bohème.

I was formerly a Studio Artist with Opera Orlando and am currently a member of Opera Carolina’s Resident Company. As a teacher, I have taught voice with Community School of the Arts (now Arts+), Southern Park Music School (Charlotte, NC), Lake-Sumter State College (Clermont, FL), Valencia College (Orlando, FL), Wingate University, and Queens University of Charlotte. I opened my private voice studio, The Bumgardner Voice Studio, in 2013 and have been helping singers find their best sound ever since. Most recently, I made my debut as a Music Director for Matthews Playhouse’s production of Scrooge! The Musical.

I have been teaching Applied Voice with Davidson for the last two years. This year, I have been able to be a part of the teaching team for Performance Hour, where our singers really get the chance to workshop their pieces, discover and learn in a new way. I hold a Master of Music degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Bachelor of Music from Appalachian State University.
