Jay Meachum Adjunct Instructor of Jazz Trumpet and Jazz Trombone

I have been playing the trumpet for more than 40 years. I have performed with many artists and groups including: The Count Basie Orchestra, Harry Connick, Jr. Quincy Jones, Arturo Sandoval, Wynonna Judd, Aretha Franklin, The Fifth Dimension, The Manhattans, Peaches and Herb, Ben E. King, John Faddis, Freddie Cole and Clark Terry. I have toured with The Four Tops, The Temptations, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Billy Preston, and Mary Wilson.

I lived in Spain where I performed in a show called "Son Amar Espectaculo." I was also in a PayPerView special with the Four Tops, Live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Most recently, I recorded trumpet and flugelhorn parts for the world release of the brand new Broadway Musical about the life of Harry Houdini entitled “d’ILLUSION: The HOUDINI Musical."

I received my BM (Classical Trumpet Performance) from Appalachian State University and his MM (Jazz and Studio Music) from The University of Tennessee.
