Background
I teach Screenwriting and Introduction to Writing Fiction at Davidson. My professional artistic practice encompasses many disciplines-novelist, playwright, screenwriter, film curator, songwriter, and visual artist.
My first novel Mira Corpora was a Finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. My second novel Destroy All Monsters was published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux, receiving advanced praise from Don DeLillo and rave reviews from The New York Times, NPR, and Washington Post.
Seven of my plays have been produced by the Obie Award-winning Collapsable Giraffe theater company in New York City. I've worked as a film and music critic and previously taught film classes at University of North Carolina Charlotte, as well as founding the NODA Film Festival and curating film programs for The Mint Museum, McColl Center for Art + Innovation, and Goodyear Arts.
