Background

My 20 years at Davidson College have been very good ones, and I retire with tugs at my heart. Across this time, it has been my joy and privilege to offer classes in the Spanish language, Spanish literature of the 20th-21st centuries, the writing of Hispanic exile, Plural Spain, the poet Federico García Lorca and his generation, Spanish film, and Spain and the Holocaust. Coming to know my students has been an especially rich and satisfying part of my work at Davidson. In retirement, I plan to continue researching and writing in these areas, reading nearly non-stop, traveling, and keeping in touch with former students—another of the wonderful things about Davidson College.
