Education
- Ph.D., M.A. Duke University
- B.A. Princeton University
Background
I am excited to be joining the Latin American Studies program here at Davidson College. I teach a range of courses, including LAS 101, as well as seminars of my own design, such as Religion, Sex, & Power in Latin America.
Having been a first-generation college student myself, I strive to build a classroom that is both inclusive and intellectually engaging. My own research examines Catholic debates about the birth control pill in 1960s and 1970s Mexico, and I am especially interested in how religion, gender, and sexuality intersect in complex and surprising ways in Latin America and the world.
Prior to arriving at Davidson College, I spent about 8 years in Durham, North Carolina. After earning my Phd in History at Duke in 2024, I was an instructor for Duke's International Comparative Studies Program in the 2024-2025 academic year.
