"Growing up in a rural area, applying to college was a mountainous task. I did not have much representation of the application process in my family, so I grew worried about initiating it as Junior year crept closer. As I began skimming the websites of universities and touring campuses, I was met with similar programs and information, but I felt like something was missing. However, when I arrived at Davidson's campus for the first time, I felt a warmth I hadn't felt before. When touring campus, I saw several residents with Davidson merch and dog leashes in hand. Faculty stopped walking to discuss academics with my family and encouraged questions as I discussed my interests. Every staff member was hospitable, and each office I visited made sure I was cared for. That specific feeling of community was what I was looking for, and the people I encountered that day showed me Davidson's values in practice."
Favorite Class
My favorite class at Davidson was my first-year writing class, Facebook Friends. It was a compelling course that blended Digital and Media Studies with creative writing, and it was a fantastic exercise in thinking outside of the (digital) box.
Fun Fact
I have a pet rabbit named Quincy, and I experienced my first typhoon last summer!
