MPR News: Menkhaus Offers Analysis of Latest al-Shabab Action
Minnesota Public Radio called on Professor of Political Science Ken Menkhaus for analysis of the release of a new video by the Somali terrorist group al-Shabab. The video called for supporters to carry out a "lone wolf" attack inside the United States. Menkhaus has been studying Somalia and its competing factions for many years, and noted that recruitment of new al-Shabab members from the diaspora has slowed to a trickle in recent years.
