WFAE: Claire Gutermuth '15 Among '3D Printing Innovators'

Claire Gutermuth '15 was a guest on local NPR affiliate WFAE's Charlotte Talks for a show spotlighting "3D printing innovators in the Carolinas."

During a summer internship at the Tech Museum in Silicon Valley, Gutermuth used a 3D printer to make a prosthetic hand for a 7-year-old girl who was born with an upper limb abnormality. That project drove Claire to pursue 3D printing further as a method for creating low-cost prosthetics, and she has made three hands for different children in less than a year.
