Partnership Makes Education Accessible for Talented Immigrants

Throughout the country, undocumented immigrant students with exceptional potential graduate high school to find their dreams of higher education and gainful employment crushed by their undocumented status. Davidson College has partnered with Golden Door Scholars to make a college education accessible for these students.

On Jan. 22, Davidson, Red Ventures and The Duke Endowment cohosted a screening of the film Underwater Dreams by acclaimed director Mary Mazzio. Underwater Dreams tells the story of the sons of Mexican immigrants who learn to build a submersible robot from Home Depot parts and subsequently defeat engineering powerhouse MIT at a robotics competition.
